Yes, Jillian is accepting new patients - subject to availability.

In order to book in with Jillian for obstetric care you will need to be covered under a private health fund for pregnancy care. You will also need to have completed your waiting period.

You will need a referral from your GP referring you to Jillian for Obstetrics Care and All Ultrasounds.

Dr Jillian Spilsbury is a specialist in ultrasound and performs ultrasound scans Tuesday-Saturday. Ultrasounds on Wednesdays are done by Ashley our sonographer. The below scans are available Tuesday-Saturday.

First Trimester Dating Scan (7-12 weeks)

First Trimester Nuchal Translucency and Pre-eclampsia Screening (12 weeks)

Early Anatomy Screening (12-16 weeks)

Fetal Anatomy Scan also known as the Morphology scan (17-22 weeks)

Third Trimester growth Scan (22 weeks onwards)

You can obtain a referral from your GP to see Jillian just for scans.

Currently you can make an appointment through our website or you can call the rooms on 02 4075 2747.

Jillian provides personal pregnancy care and is a specialist in ultrasound. You will see Jillian for every appointment. On Wednesdays scans are completed by our sonographer Ashley and you will see Jillian at the end.

  • Your pregnancy care will start with either a dating scan or your initial consult. This will depend on whether you have already done a dating scan or not.
  • Your initial consult usually takes places at 10 weeks.
  • Your next visit will be a Nuchal Translucency scan at 12 weeks.
  • At 15 weeks you will have your first check up.
  • Your next big scan is the Morphology Scan which will be scheduled for 19 or 20 weeks.
  • You will have monthly check ups with Jillian until you are 28 weeks.
  • From 28 weeks you will see Jillian every fortnight for a check up until you are 36 weeks.
  • From 36 weeks you will see Jillian every week for a check up until your delivery.

Circumstances relating to individual pregnancies may change this schedule.

  • Your medical history and family history will be recorded and any things you feel relevant will be discussed.
  • Discussion will also include pregnancy screening options available.
  • A dating ultrasound will be done with the images sent electronically to you.
  • You will receive a copy of your antenatal record along with any referrals needed for screening.
  • You will receive contact information regarding who to contact and when if you experience any issues.
  • You will be provided with the contact number for birthing suite at the Newcastle Private Hospital. During business hours you can call our rooms if you have any issues. Out of business hours you can call birthing suite and they will help.

In most circumstances you will deliver at the Newcastle Private Hospital.

If your baby is under 34 weeks in gestational age you will deliver at the John Hunter Hospital.
